Starting at the beginning of May I enrolled in the Google UX design certificate. For me, it took 1.5 months to complete the course. It has very immersive experience for me and I have learned a lot from this course.

It is divided into 7 courses consisting of different weeks.

Google UX design professional certificate is made of 7 courses:

  • Foundations of User Experience (UX) Design
  • Start the UX Design Process: Empathize, Define, and Ideate
  • Build Wireframes and Low-Fidelity Prototypes
  • Conduct UX Research and Test Early Concepts
  • Create High-Fidelity Designs and Prototypes in Figma
  • Responsive Web Design in Adobe XD
  • Design for Social Good and Prepare for Jobs

The first course is all about the basic information of User Experience, what type of companies are using UX designers, and so on.

On course 2 to 5, it is about building the case study of the portfolio, wireframing, research, and mockups.

Course 6 and 7 it's about how to create the design in Adobe XD and also focused on the nonprofit idea that can help others.

Most of the assignments at the end of the week are quizzes and peer-graded assignments. The biggest flaw of the course is assignments that are peer-graded, that you have to do your work and also you can check what other participants are making. To pass any peer-graded and quiz, you have to require at least 80%.

Valuable skills I learned:-

  1. Throughout the course, I enjoyed how designing for accessibility and inclusivity was emphasized. Empathy with the most common users can only reach so far as we need to design for the underrepresented users who are often left out of user experience designs and research.
  2. While I was interested in taking the certificate to learn more about the design, I gained skillsets in Figma and Adobe XD that allowed me to understand the tools that designers would use.
  3. From working through the activities and assignments step-by-step, I have deliverables to show my research process, synthesis of interviews, and iterations that resulted in a better user experience.

Just finished my certification.:)
